CBC Toronto Celebrates Citizenship Week

CBC Radio One 99.1 FM and CBC Toronto are proud to celebrate Citizenship Week, from October 16 - 22.

From coast to coast, Canadians are encouraged to reflect on the value, rights, responsibilities and meaning of citizenship.

On Tuesday, October 18, CBC's Metro Morning hosted a special radio broadcast from Parkdale. See photos and listen to the podcast at www.cbc.ca/MetroMorning.

Host Matt Galloway spoke to local residents about their personal journeys to Canada, what it means to become citizens, and explore this diverse Toronto neighbourhood through the eyes of people who live there.

CBC News Toronto at 5, 5:30 and 6 pm on CBC Television then broadcast highlights of the Parkdale citizenship ceremony and celebrations. Watch the story of one neighbourhood family here.

CBC Toronto was a proud media partner of the Parkdale citizenship ceremony organized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the Institute for Canadian Citizenship and the Parkdale Citizenship Committee.
