Al Gore's Future Shock 2.0

It's a brave person who tries to predict the future. The record of prognosticators is mixed at best. We're still waiting for our flying cars, colonies on other planets and robots to clean our homes and fix us gin and tonics.

Former US Vice-President Al Gore, on the other hand, has proven remarkably prescient in four decades of public life. As he predicted 20 years ago, the Internet has revolutionized the world. And three decades ago, he was warning that we should take action on climate change or it would become one of the most daunting challenges facing humanity.

His new book takes on the weightiest of subjects - nothing less than the future of our civilization. It's called The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change

Al Gore spoke with Michael in our Toronto studio.
