Morgan Purvis leads a double life. By day, she is a business student at Camosun College in Victoria. At night, Morgan Purvis is a poet, a 20-year-old, spoken-word poet. And Purvis the poet, is doing very well.

Victoria, traditionally thought of as a west coast home for retirees, is the only city in Canada that boasts a Youth Poet Laureate. The idea came from the Victoria City Youth Council -- 20 young people who, a couple of years ago, convinced the Mayor and city council that this was an idea worth trying.

In 2014, the title went to Morgan Purvis.

Three or four times a year, city council begins its meeting not with a prayer but a poem; a distilled view of how this young woman sees the world.

Karin Wells met Morgan Purvis in Victoria. Karin's documentary is called "Where's the metaphor?"
