Making Tracks from Halifax to Vancouver in Hour One

Michael Bawtree

Michael Bawtree joined Michael on the train in Halifax all the way to Truro, Nova Scotia. He is an actor, theatre director, author, Joe Howe expert and impersonator.

Roch Carrier

Roch Carrier boarded the train in Ste. Hyacinthe and left us in Montreal. Writer, poet, former National Librarian of Canada, most well known for his well loved Canadian short story, "The Hockey Sweater".


Lise Bissonnette

Lisa Bissonnette met Michael in the Panorama Lounge at the Montreal train station. Journalist, former publisher of Le Devoir, director of the National Library & archives of Quebec.


Dorothy Williams

Historian Dorothy Williams boarded the train in Montreal, getting off in Dorval.

Riding the Rails from Toronto to Edmonton in Hour Two


Alia Hogben

Executive director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women, Alia Hogben, jumped on board the train in Kingston and rode with us until Toronto.

George Elliott Clarke

Poet, writer, English professor at the University of Toronto, George Elliot Clark meet Michael under the big clock in Union Station.

Vincent Ho

Vincent Ho is the composer in residence for the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He joined us in the Lobby of the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg.

Robert Enright

Robert Enright joined the adventure in Portage la Prairie Winnipeg. He is a writer, broadcaster, art critic and younger smarter cousin to Michael Enright.

Danielle Smith

At the Edmonton train station, Danielle Smith joined us. She is the leader of the Wildrose Alliance -- the new political party that hopes to replace a conservative dynasty in Alberta.

Ben Gadd

Ben Gadd knows the Rockies as well as anyone in this country. He's lived there all of his life. He's written nin books, including the award winning Handbook of the Canadian Rockies.

Anne Williams

In her youth, Anne Williams ventured west from St. Thomas, Ontario to take a summer job at The Jasper Park Lodge. She fell in love with the mountains , and she's lived here practically ever since.

Sarah de Leeuw

Sarah de Leeuw grew up in Haida Gwaii and Terrace B.C. She's been a tug boat driver, a women's centre coordinator, a logging camp cook, and a Fulbright Scholar. Today, she teaches in the Northern Medical Program at the University of Northern B.C. in Prince George.

Mary Teegee

Mary Teegee is Program Director of Carrier Sekani Child and Family Services. The agency serves most of North Central B.C.
