CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

Ring Cycle Grand Prize Contest

from September 5th to September 14th, 2006

1. TO ENTER
To enter the Ring Cycle Grand Prize Contest, contestants must visit the http://www.cbc.ca/thering website, complete the official entry form available there between September 5th, 2006 and September 14th 2006, and give the answer to the mandatory question, along with their name, age, full postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, and then click on the submit button at the bottom of the entry form to send it to ringgrandprize@cbc.ca

To be valid, all entry forms must be received by 11:59PM, Thursday September 14th Eastern Daylight Time [EDT]

Photocopies of entry forms and other mechanical reproductions will be rejected. Limit of one entry per person per day.

Entry forms become the property of CBC and will not be returned to contestants.

No purchase required.

2. ELIGIBILITY
Contest is open to all Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority in their province of residence at the time of entering the contest. Employees of CBC, the Canadian Opera Company and their affiliates, as well as their immediate family (father/mother, brother/sister, son/daughter) or persons living under the same roof are not eligible to enter this contest.

3. PROCEDURE FOR AWARDING PRIZES
On September 17th, 2006, a random draw will be conducted live by the host during the broadcast of Götterdämmerung to be aired on CBC Radio Two. This draw will be made from among all eligible entries received. The first contestant to correctly answer the mandatory question shall be declared the winner, subject to responding all the conditions described in these rules.
The winner will be contacted by telephone or by e-mail during the week following the draw and should claim the prize as instructed by CBC by no later than 3 days after the date they were initially contacted. If the prize is not claimed within this period, a new draw will be held.

4. DESCRIPTION OF PRIZE(S)
The winner will receive a trip for two (2) to Toronto, Ontario, between September 26 and October 2, 2006, including:

return economy airfares for two (2) people;

accommodations for 7 days and 6 nights (double occupancy);

two tickets for the Ring Cycle operas to be performed on Tuesday September 26th, Wednesday September 27th, Friday September 29th and Sunday October 1st at the Four Seasons Performing Arts Centre.

The prize includes only what is specifically described and no other allowance will be granted. The winner and his/her travel companion will have to pay all expenses including, but not limited to:

meals and beverages;

transportation costs, including round-trip transfers between the winner’s residence and the airport and/or the airport and hotel;

travel insurance (cancellation, medical, etc);

gratuities, tips, taxes of any kind;

personal expenses.

The winner and his/her travel companion, if applicable, are responsible for obtaining a valid passport and/or other required travel documentation at their own expense. If the winner and his/her travel companion are unable to travel because they lack proper documentation, the prize will be forfeited without compensation, and a new draw may be held.

The winner must be available to travel on the dates mentioned in the prize description. If the winner is unable to travel on the designated dates, the prize will be forfeited without compensation and a new draw may be held.

Total Value of Grand Prize: $5000.00

5. GENERAL RULES
5.1 To be declared a winner, the contestant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.

5.2 Winners, as well as the people accompanying them, or their parents or guardians if the people accompanying them are minors, shall agree, if necessary, to have their name and/or picture, including their photograph, and/or their voices used for advertising purposes related to this contest, free of charge.

5.3 Winners shall sign a document attesting to their eligibility as stipulated in paragraph 2 of these rules and releasing CBC, Canadian Opera Company, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize.

Anyone accompanying the winner in connection with the Ring Cycle Grand Prize described in paragraph 4, (or if the accompanying person is a minor, the parent or guardian of anyone accompanying the winner in connection with the Ring Cycle Grand Prize) shall sign a document releasing CBC, The Canadian Opera Company, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, from all liability for any damage or loss arising from use of the prize.

5.4 The prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged for an amount of money, nor sold nor transferred. No substitutions will be allowed.

5.5 If the prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, CBC, the Canadian Opera Company, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, reserve the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value.

5.6 Refusal to accept the prize releases CBC, the Canadian Opera Company, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, of any obligation toward the winner.

5.7 Should winners make any false statement, they shall be automatically disqualified from the contest.

5.8 CBC, the Canadian Opera Company, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, shall assume no liability resulting from losses, delays, mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail received, typographical errors, technical, computer or telephone malfunctions, loss or theft of computer or telephone data, damage to software or computer equipment, fraudulent calls or any other mistake.

5.9 CBC, the Canadian Opera Company, their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, shall assume no liability whatsoever for any situation in which their inability to act results from an event or situation beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used to hold this contest

5.10 All personal information, such as your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and age is collected solely for the purposes of administering this contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used for the stated purposes.

5.11 By entering, contestants agree to abide by the contest rules which shall be applied by the CBC. All its decisions are final.
