Shelagh's extended conversation with Richard Ford

Listen

Richard Ford is arguably one of the great American writers of his generation.  He has written novels and short stories, and is perhaps best known for his Frank Bascombe trilogy which includes the novels The SportswriterIndependence Day (the first book ever to win both the Pulitzer Prize and the PEN/Faulkner Award), and The Lay of the Land.  So what the heck is an American writer doing on the programme dedicated to Canadian books and writing?

Well, Richard Ford's latest novel is called Canada.  Half of it is set in Saskachewan.  And Shelagh interviewed Richard this summer at the Writers at Woody Point Festival in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland and Labrador... Canada.

We think that's reason enough!

There was standing room only at the Heritage Theatre in Woody Point when Shelagh spoke with Richard Ford.  This TNC Special is your ticket into that room.

We hope you enjoy this extended conversation.
