I read A Forest for Calum when it was first published and have been making people read it ever since - especially people "from away" who often have difficulty understanding the Maritime people/lifestyle and the Scotch roots of the culture. It's on my shelf next to The Master's Wife.

I've read Kayla Perrin's works and one of the best things about her work is that when you read her books the characters can be ANY color and EVERY CULTURE will enjoy her books. She is wonderful!
I'm in NC and yes I can get both the authors and I Love them both! Loved the interview and needed the advice for writing.

A Forest for Calum
is one of those rare books that provokes a campaigning attitude in its readers, who often become determined to spread the word about it. After having read A Forest for Calum, it moved me with a warm and peaceful homesick feeling. This is a book that everyone should read, it is a great loss to those who haven't. Last summer,I had the good fortune to catch the talented Frank Macdonald acting as preacher in a one act play. That same night I was treated again to a humouros one act play written by himself called Her Wake. I still break out with laughter every time I think about it. Frank Macdonald is a prolific writer, and to meet him is an experience in itself. Any one who hasn't read A Forest for Calum yet, must treat themselves to a beautiful, heartwarming story.
