Linden McIntyre speaks with Shelagh Rogers in front of a live audience in Burlington, Ontario, about his novel, The Bishop's Man, winner of this year's Giller Prize. It's a story about the Catholic church, about Cape Breton, and about a priest coping with a sexual abuse scandal.

Stuart Woods of Quill & Quire magazine helps us sort out the differences between the fall season's various book prizes, as we announce our shortlist for a new prize: The Next Chapter Award for Best Literary Award. (This includes an investigation of one town's prize for best local poem on the topic of cheese.) On a more serious note, the author Shani Mootoo visits the show to speak with Shelagh about what inspired her to write her new novel, Valmiki's Daughter.

Way to go, Shani Mootoo!!! Shelagh's guest made an observation about the cultural reality of Trinidad which may also apply to Guyana. Yeah, where is the "nation" - or are there two separate realities under one roof? Sound familiar, Canada?
