James FitzGerald won the Writers' Trust Nonfiction Prize for his book What Disturbs Our Blood: A Son's Quest to Redeem the Past. It's an exploration of his family's troubled past, especially the mysterious death of his distinguished grandfather, Dr. Gerry FitzGerald. It also recounts a pivotal moment in public health in Canada. Extraordinary, astonishing, candid... these are all words that poured from our mouths as we left the studio after Shelagh spoke with James. When you listen to this special unedited version of their conversation, you'll understand why. Enjoy.
