About this Report

The National begins its coverage leading up to the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States.

On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, U.S. Distict Judge Lee Yeakel denied Rais Bhuiyan’s request for a stay of the execution of Mark Stroman, the man who shot him and killed two others. Stroman was executed by the State of Texas at approximately 10:00 p.m ET that same day.

He called himself a true "American patriot" out to avenge 9/11 when he went on a shooting spree in Dallas just ten days after the terror attacks, targeting people who appeared to be Muslim or of Middle Eastern descent.

Now, Mark Stroman is on death row in Texas, slated for execution on Wednesday, July 20 for hate crimes against three innocent men. But you may be shocked to discover who is fighting to save his life. Ioanna Roumeliotis reports.
