About this Report

The National takes you to the main streets of four battleground ridings in four different provinces: Newfoundland, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

April 15, 2011

Cameron MacIntosh reports from the riding of Saskatoon - Rosetown - Biggar, where the NDP is trying to win back a seat lost to the Conservatives in the last election. The average household income is well below the national average in this riding, which is one reason why this race is hard to call.

Vik Adhopia is in Atlantic Canada, reporting on the riding of Avalon, located west of St. John's. Unemployment is high in this vast rural riding and as Vik reports, it will be a tight fight to the finish.

In Ontario, Ron Charles reports from the voter-rich riding of Brampton - Springdale. With a high average household income and a relatively low unemployment rate, the big issue for voters in this riding is immigration as 47 per cent of the population are new Canadians.

Briar Stewart is in the NDP-held riding of Edmonton - Strathcona. This is the only Alberta riding not held by the Conservatives. As Briar reports, there is a chance that Edmonton - Strathcona could become the next jewel in the Conservative's crown.
