About this Report

Susan Ormiston reports on the debate over negotiating peace with the Taliban in Afghanistan, and whether it's a way to resolve the war. Some observers believe fighting the insurgency in that country has not worked and that more of Afghanistan is insecure than in any year since the fall of the Taliban in 2001. Some say military force paired with efforts to reconcile with some elements of the Taliban is the only way out. Susan Ormiston and crew travelled to Afghanistan and spoke with several key players in this debate, including former Taliban members who have decided to reconcile.
