Key evidence not pursued for months, files show
A B.C. hit-and-run victim is shocked and upset because the Vancouver police and the Insurance Corporation of B.C. have failed to find the driver responsible, despite evidence that could have identified him months ago.
Thomas Reekie was cycling to work in Vancouver in October 2005 when he smashed into a van that had turned in front of him. Two years later, the driver still hasn't been held accountable, and Reekie hasn't been compensated for his injuries.
"There was no investigation," Reekie said. "I phoned 911 to report a hit and run but the Vancouver Police Department does not take hit and run calls, they just refer you to the insurance corporation.
