A new host for The National on Sunday

I have some exciting news to share about Wendy Mesley.  Beginning on September 12, 2010, she's going to be the regular Sunday night host of The National.  This is an important turning point for Wendy, and the program.

It's important to have someone own The National on Sunday night, and we're very fortunate to be able to turn to Wendy.  She is, of course, one of Canada's best-known and most respected journalists.  She has won Gemini awards for her work with Marketplace and Undercurrents, and been honoured with the John Drainie Award for her contribution to Canadian broadcasting.

In many ways, Wendy's coming back to The National full-time is a return to her roots, to the home where she honed her political reporting skills, before moving into investigative reporting at Marketplace and Undercurrents.  Wendy has an intelligence, a drive, and a style you won't see anywhere else.

We'll be working with Wendy to develop some new ideas to make The National on Sunday a showcase for her unique style and talents.  We will also continue to call on the top journalists at CBC News to host The National on Friday and Saturday.  Meanwhile, Wendy will continue to contribute to the program during the rest of week.

You can read more about Wendy and see her reports from the last year on her bio page at
