Allan Gregg
Toronto
Allan Gregg brings an insider's perspective on politics to the At Issue panel. While he once dreamed of becoming a university professor, Allan was lured to Parliament Hill at the age of 23. He started out working for the Progressive Conservative Party, and worked for 18 years as a pollster for former prime ministers Joe Clark, Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell. He is currently the chair of Harris/Decima, one of Canada's largest full-service research firms.
Allan has participated in over 50 political campaigns on three continents. He is well-versed in the dynamics of policy-making and forging a public consensus around government initiatives.
He is also co-author of The Big Picture: What Canadians Think about Almost Everything and host of Allan Gregg in Conversation on TVO. He received the Public Affairs Association of Canada 2006 Award of Distinction and a 2007 National Magazine Award for his writing on multi-culturalism.
Though Gregg is passionate about politics - he was on the very first At Issue panel back in 2001 - he has also pursued a lifelong love of music, executive producing the earliest recordings of such seminal Canadian bands as The Tragically Hip, The Watchmen and Big Wreck.
