McGuinty defends his decision to prorogue

This week on The House, Evan Solomon previews next week's American presidential election with the U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Jacobson. Then, former U.S. Ambassador David Wilkins and former Canadian Ambassador to the United States Raymond Chrétien outline what's at stake for Canada.

Also on the show, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty joins us to explain why he decided to step down and prorogue the legislature. We also ask him about his views on the Harper government's approach to provinces, and whether he really considered running for the leadership of the federal Liberal party.

Finally, CBC senior political correspondent Terry Milewski bring us the latest in the case of Conservative cabinet minister Peter Penashue's campaign donations.
