Weekly Win Contest Rules

Weekly from February 8, 2010 to May 31, 2011

To enter The Hour’s Weekly Win Contest (the "Contest"), go online to http://www.cbc.ca/thehour between February 8, 2010 to May 31, 2011 to enter.  The winner of the contest will receive prizing as described for that week on http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/weekly-win.html.

Along with their contest submission, contestants must include their full name, address, daytime telephone number with area code (to ensure contact with winner on initial contact attempt), age range and e-mail address.

The online entry mechanism will open at 9:00 a.m. ET Monday February 8, 2010 and close Monday May 31, 2011 11:00 p.m. ET.

To be valid for the week, a fully completed entry form must be received by 12:00 p.m. ET every Monday (the "Contest Closing Date").

All valid entries will be eligible to win the prize. The odds of winning the prize are directly related to the number of valid entries. No purchase required.

Entries received through online voting shall be deemed to be submitted by one person who is the holder of the CBC Member Centre account. Entries cast using shared CBC Member Centre accounts or entries using automated voting will not be considered valid entries. Use of voice recognition software for the visually impaired is permitted for manual entry, so long as it is not used to automate entry. We reserve the right to disqualify any vote during the contest process that attempts to automate voting, share accounts or otherwise cheat. The contest hosting company monitors the system for abuse and this rule will be strictly enforced.

Online entry forms become the property of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (the "CBC") and will not be returned to contestants.

ELIGIBILITY

This contest is open to all Canadian residents who have reached the age of majority within the province or territory in which they reside at the time of entering the Contest.

Directors, officers and employees of CBC, each of their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, parent companies, partners, licensors, distributors, divisions, agencies, and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) and members of the same households (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate in this Contest.  

PROCEDURE FOR AWARDING PRIZE

Every Monday at 12:00pm ET, a random draw will be conducted among all eligible entries received prior to the Contest Closing Date. 

The winner will be contacted by telephone or email every Monday. If contact cannot be made with the winner within 4 days of the initial contact attempt, they will forfeit their prize and a random draw will be held and a new winner will be drawn.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIZE

The winner will receive a prizing as described at http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/weekly-win.html.  The estimated value of the prize will also be listed at http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/weekly-win.html.

GENERAL RULES

5.1 To be declared winner, the contestant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.

5.2 Winner of the prize, as well as his/her guests, shall agree, if necessary, to have their names and/or pictures, including their photographs, and/or their voices used for advertising purposes related to this Contest, free of charge.

 5.3 Prize shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged for an amount of money, nor sold nor transferred. No substitutions will be allowed.  Prizes will be awarded only if the potential prize winner fully complies with these rules.   

5.4 If any prize cannot be awarded as described in these rules, CBC and their affiliates, as well as their respective directors, officers and employees, reserve the right to substitute a prize or prize component with another of comparable value.

5.5 Refusal to accept the prize releases the CBC of any and all responsibility and obligation toward the winner.

5.6 Should any contestant make a false statement, he/she shall be automatically disqualified from the Contest.

5.7 Winners shall sign a document attesting to their eligibility and confirming the representations as stipulated in sections 1 and 2 of these rules and releasing the CBC from all liability for any damage or loss arising from participation in this contest or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the prize.

Anyone accompanying the winnerin connection with the prize shall sign a document releasing the CBC from all liability for any damage or loss arising from use of the prize.

5.8 The CBC shall assume no liability resulting from losses, delays, mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail received, typographical errors, technical, computer or telephone malfunctions, loss or theft of computer or telephone data, damage to software or computer equipment, fraudulent calls or any other mistake.

5.9 The CBC shall assume no liability whatsoever for any situation in which their inability to act results from an event or situation unforeseeable or beyond their control, including a strike, lockout or any other labour dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used to hold this Contest and/or in connection with any prize awarded.

5.10 All personal information, such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and age is collected solely for the purposes of administering this Contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used for the stated purposes.

5.11 By entering this Contest, contestants agree to abide by the Contest rules, which shall be applied by the CBC. All its decisions are final.
