Wed Feb 3 Thrift & Extinction

Should we open our wallets and spend our way out of this recession? This week Alberta funny man Andrew Grose tries to convince penny-pinching Maritimer Nathan Macintosh that, economically speaking, it isn’t nifty being thrifty. Up next, nature lover Jen Grant is out to prove to supercilious cynic Johnny Beuhler that we should do everything we can to save endangered species. As usual it is survival of the funniest as our debaters fight to the finish in a battle of laughs and logic. Make us a natural selection for entertainment and tune in Wednesday at 11:30 am on CBC Radio One.

Sat Jan 30 Gym Class & Time Machines

Our first topic this week is physical education - as fit and funny Kristeen von Hagen uses her comedy muscles to prove to comic Debra DiGiovanni that gym class is the best class. Next we talk time-travel as philosophically funny John Ki tries to convince forward and backward looking comedian Mark Forward that a time machine would be a terrible invention. If you have a time machine we urge you to set it for Saturday at 1:00 PM so you can be the first to catch the timeless comedy of The Debaters on CBC Radio One.

Wed Jan 27 - Snowmobiles & Anger 4.12

Should we ski-doo or should we "ski-don't?" This week the pride of Wawa, Ontario, Pete Zedlacher is revved up and ready to blast comic Irwin Barker with a blizzard of reasons why the growth of snow-mobiling is good for Canada. Next topic up is "anger", as diminutive debater Darren Frost tries to convince funny lady Rebecca Kohler that it's never over-the-top to blow one's top. At the Debaters we don't believe it's healthy to hold back any emotions. So, to release all your bottled-up belly laughs and gummed-up giggles tune in Wednesday at 11:30 am here on Radio One.
