Sat Nov 21 Marketing to Kids & Plastic Bags

In spite of the downturn, kids across the country continue to do their part to improve the economy by pestering their parents to buy all manner of toys and crap. And who is to blame for this annoying behaviour? Advertisers of course! This week, funny gal Jennifer Robertson does her best to sell writer/comedian George Westerholm on the notion that marketing to children is just plain wrong. Next up on our shopping-themed double bill, comic Steve Levine and “That Canadian Guy “Glen Foster go toe to toe on the topic of the plastic bag and whether this environmental scourge is the worst invention of all time. Shopping has got a lot more complicated so why not take a break from stimulating the economy to tune into The Debaters, Saturday at 1:00 on Radio One.
