Crazy, nuts, psycho... are often thrown around when describing people with a mental illness. The media often associate mental illness with violence -- some form of undefined madness is typically all the motivation a movie villain needs.
Our next two guests hope to change the stigma surrounding mental illness. Actor Glenn Close is in Kingston, Ontario today to receive a Doctor of Laws degree from Queen's University and will address the convocation. She is the co-founder of BringChange2Mind, an organization that works to end the stigma and discrimination of mental illness.
And Dr. Heather Stuart is a professor of Community Health and Epidemiology at Queen's University and the Bell Canada Mental Health and Anti-Stigma Research Chair.
They were both in Kingston, Ontario.
