Qais Akbar Omar on growing up in Afghanistan
The picture we usually get of Afghanistan is a poor land in chaos. And it's a true picture. Afghanistan is not only the famous "Graveyard of Empires", it's often in internal upheaval.
But a new book paints a different, more intimate picture of what it's like to live in the middle of that unrest. Qais Akbar Omar's book is called A Fort of Nine Towers and it tells an almost unbelievable story of his childhood growing up in Afghanistan. Qais Akbar Omar was in Boston.
