Dubbed as Harper's pit bull, Senator Doug Finley defends his political strategies (Sean Kilpatrick/Canadian Press)
Senator Doug Finley on politics and cancer
We started this segment with a clip from Stephen Harper on January 23, 2006. That election night, the Conservative Party ended 13 years of Liberal Party rule.
Today the party sits with a majority government. Many would give at least some of the credit to Senator Doug Finley, a key architect of the Conservative resurgence. But the struggle he now faces is not political-- it's against a cancer that has been described as terminal.
Doug Finley joined us from Ottawa.
