Yesterday, we said goodbye to Stephen Hart our beloved Voice. If you missed the conversation, it's on our website, along with pictures of Stephen and Anna Maria.
Many of you developed a strong affection for the Voice. Signe Dewar of Toronto writes:
Say it ain't so, Anna Maria! Ten years ago I welcomed you into my mornings and have listened to you faithfully ever since. I tuned in this AM, eager to get started on a new season and heard the heart-breaking news about The Voice. While I wish him the best, I will miss him. He started my day for 10 years. I rarely missed him and if I did the rest of the day felt strangely incomplete. He made me laugh and what better way to kick start a day? Thank-you Mr. Voice for those 10 years.
And Francis Daulby of Coldwater, Ontario adds these thoughts:
Welcome back Anna Maria! Thankfully yours is a voice I find easy to listen to, not so with the Voice. At first interesting, he became annoying, his comments often humorous, but more of a buffalo jump without the thump. Still he was a bold move for CBC and I wish him well.
And we also heard from Cathy Sieman of Victoria on our feedback line.
And lots of you took to Twitter to add your two cents:
Tracy Veit sent us this tweet: All conversations stop in our car when "The Voice" comes on... we will miss you! Good luck!
Cathy Brophey tweeted: Can't tell you the number of times I use "The Voice" in my head to narrate the mundane.
Eileen Oliver added: I'm very sorry to hear that The Voice, and such a voice, will be leaving the Current. A low blow indeed.
And Adam Sciven tweeted: I miss Stephen Hart's voice already.
If you have thoughts on this or anything else you hear on The Current, please let us know. You can send contact us here.
We're really going to miss our fulminating frontman, Stephen Hart. But the ideas he personified remain a vital part of this program. Actually, The Voice -- as usual -- says it best. And he gets the Last Word today.
