Prescription Drug Shortages - Dr. Brian Goldman
We started this segment with a clip from Christine Sorenson talking about her son Derek. He's 14 and depends on a particular and somewhat rare, anti-epileptic drug to control his severe and frequent seizures. It's a drug in short supply and that's a terrifying thought for his mother. For Derek, the stakes couldn't be higher. If he goes off his usual medications - for any reason - there's a good chance his condition will again go out of control.
Later this morning our colleagues at White Coat, Black Art launch their seventh season with an episode about prescription drug shortages. Dr. Brian Goldman is a veteran Emergency Room physician and the host of White Coat, Black Art. He was in our Toronto studio to tell us more.
This segment was produced by The Current's Kristin Nelson.
