Part Two of The Current
Warrior Nation: Noah Richler
We started this segment with CBC's Matthew Halton reporting 67 years ago today, Victory in Europe day. If Matthew sounded a little low-key it may be because the Pacific theatre was still on fire and would remain so until Tokyo surrendered three months later. Or perhaps it was because the war had been so searing, it was difficult to find the energy for a victory lap. Whatever the reason, war transforms the survivors.
Noah Richler has spent a lot of time thinking about War and Transformations and the Canadian character. His new book is called What We Talk About When We Talk About War. Noah Richler was in our Toronto studio.
This segment was produced by The Current's Howard Goldenthal.
