Part Two of The Current
NDP Leadership Hopeful, Martin Singh
Martin Singh's resume isn't exactly what you'd expect for someone running to be leader of the NDP. He's a pharmacist and investment consultant with an MBA who calls himself a "pro-business" member of the party. And he is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves.
Martin Singh is from Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia. He is a convert to the Sikh faith. And though he has never been elected to Parliament, he is the President of the NDP's Faith and Social Justice Commission and the President of the Sackville-Eastern Shore riding association. Martin Singh was in Halifax this morning.
This concludes our series of conversations with the candidates running for leadership of the NDP. We have spoken to every contender except Thomas Mulcair. He was invited to be on the show several weeks ago, but has declined our repeated requests. The NDP's leadership convention takes place in Toronto March 23rd and 24th. A new leader will be chosen by delegates at that time.
