Part Two of The Current

Lost Boy: Mijok Lang

We started this segment with the song, Lost Boy by Mijok Lang, a Calgary rapper known as Hot Dogg. Mijok Lang was one of the thousands of Lost Boys of Sudan ... boys who were chased out of their villages by civil war in the late 1980s and left on their own in the jungle for weeks and months. Sudan's civil war ended with a peace deal and a power-sharing agreement in early 2005.

Earlier this year, the people of Southern Sudan voted to become an independent country. That's set to become a reality on July 9th and Mijok Lang hopes to join the many Sudanese who are planning to return after independence is formally declared.
Mijok Lang was in Calgary.

We finished this segment with a song from Mijok Lang -- also known as Hot Dogg. His second CD set to be released this summer. We played his song, Letter to God.
