Part One of The Current
Satire
It's Friday June 17th.
At a party convention in Vancouver this weekend, the federal NDP debates removing the word "socialist" from its constitution.
Currently, it's either that, or add the word "unelectable".
This is the Current.

Riot Video - Panel
We started this segment with a clip from Premier Christy Clark and other B.C. authorities with a warning for those responsible for the Stanley Cup riots. Because, really, has there ever been better documented chaos? The television stations and police took their photos, of course.
But so did everyone with a pocket camera or cell phone -- and that seems to be about everyone. The face of nearly every vandal, looter, graffiti artist and probably even the trash-talkers are all posted on the Internet. It's hard evidence served up to police on a big, silver Twitter.
Our next two guests have thought about the broader legal and social implications of police asking for evidence from the public. David Eby is executive director of the BC Civil Liberties Association. And Donna Turko is a criminal defence lawyer with the firm Turko & Company. Both were in Vancouver this morning.
It was a lot harder when Grant Fredericks investigated the 1994 Stanley Cup riots. A TV reporter-turned cop, Grant started the Vancouver Police Department's forensic video unit and is one of the world's leading experts in the field. He now runs Forensic Video solutions, which provides video analysis to police departments in the U.S., Canada and the UK. He also consults for the US Department of Justice, and teaches at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Grant Fredericks joined us today from Spokane, Washington.
