The Information: James Gleick

Information is now ubiquitous. Google will deliver in seconds what would have once taken months to unearth. The device in your pocket has more computing power than the machines we used to send on lunar missions. But according to James Gleick, we're still a long way from truly understanding what all this information is doing to us and the world we live in.

PART THREE

The Information: James Gleick

Well talk about too much information ... Google gives us information on demand. And the gadgets in our homes, our workplaces -- even our pockets allow us to trade information instantly and at volumes that would have been unimaginable even a decade ago.

But that doesn't necessarily mean we understand information any better or that we're more informed. James Gleick has a new book on this issue, he takes on the sheer mushrooming mass of information and how it affects the way we live and think. His book is The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood. James Gleick was in New York City.
