Boomerangers

They changed diapers, delivered advice, diligently doted ... then saw you out the door. Little did those parents realize that door was a revolving one. We re-broadcast a documentary about the growing number of so-called, boomerangers.

PART TWO

Boomerangers

It used to be parents worried about the inevitable empty nest syndrome. Today though, many of those fears are morphing somewhat due to the sheer number of adult kids moving back in with their parents... leading to - in some cases - concerns over distinctly over-crowded nests.

The number of people aged 25 to 29 who are living at home has doubled in the last couple of decades. In some provinces as many as half of all 20-somethings - reside with their parents. The reasons for the growing number of so-called "Boomerangers" run the gamut ... the economy, relationship breakups and even a changing notion of what it means to be an adult.

This morning, we re-broadcast our project Shift documentary, Bouncing Back. It was produced by The Current's Manitoba producer, Suzanne Dufresne. It first aired in November.
