The New Harvest - Calestous Juma

Across Africa, an estimated 250 million people are undernourished. And in the depths of that tragedy, Calestous Juma sees reason for hope. He grew up in Port Victoria, Kenya. And has become one of the world's leading thinkers and advisors on agricultural expansion.

Mr. Juma believes that Africa has the potential for a dramatic turn-around .. that within a generation, Africans should be growing enough food to feed themselves and to be major agricultural exporters.

Calestous Juma has just been in Tanzania, where he met with the Presidents of five African nations to talk about his ideas to make this happen. The Harvard professor also outlines them in his new book, The New Harvest: Agricultural Innovation in Africa. Calestous Juma was in Boston this morning.
