We started this segment with a clip from British Celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver on his landmark television series, Jamie's School Dinners. He's offering kids a choice between his own chicken dish served with vegetables and chicken nuggets and fries. They all chose the nuggets. So Jamie Oliver took them to school.
Then he adds some chicken skin to the blender ... a few dollops of fat ... some bread crumbs and some other additives. Now, you've got a nasty looking chicken slurry. And suddenly, the chicken nuggets don't look as appetizing.
Getting people -- especially children -- to eat healthy, unprocessed food has been Jamie Oliver's mission ever since he became one of the world's best-known chefs. He has been the host of numerous other TV cooking shows. His latest is Jamie's American Road Trip. He's also the author of several best-selling cookbooks, including Jamie's Food Revolution and Jamie's America. Jamie Oliver was in our Toronto studio.
