Nov 11/10 - Pt 1: Veterans Ombudsman

Guy Parent is a former Chief Warrant Officer with the Canadian Forces and he begins his first day as the new Veterans Ombudsman today. His predecessor says the support system for Canadian veterans is "broken." We ask Guy Parent how he plans to address the concerns about how Veterans Affairs is operating.

Veterans Ombudsman - Guy Parent

We started this segment with a clip from Retired Colonel Pat Stogran. His term as Canada's first Veterans Affairs Ombudsman came to an end yesterday. And after three years, he is leaving the post with little satisfaction.

As of this morning - Remembrance Day - Guy Parent has taken over as Canada's Veterans Affairs Ombudsman. He's a Retired Chief Warrant Officer in the Canadian Forces. He also served as Director of Research and Investigation in the office of the Veterans Affairs Ombudsman under Colonel Stogran. Guy Parent was in Ottawa.
