PART ONE

It's Wednesday, October 27th.

According to Auditor General Sheila Fraser, the Department of National Defence's 16-billion dollar fighter jet program carries a significant risk of cost increases.

Currently, to address those concerns, the Department of National Defence has stripped the Auditor General of her rank.

This is The Current.

39th U.S. President - Jimmy Carter

We started this segment with a clip from U.S. President Jimmy Carter, speaking from the Oval Office on July 15th, 1979. That was more than 30 years ago. And the world has changed a lot since then. But when President Carter looked back over his time in office while he was writing his memoirs, he discovered that a lot has stayed the same too. In fact, many of the issues that Barack Obama is confronting today first came to light on President Carter's watch. Jimmy Carter's new book is called White House Diary. He was in San Francisco.
