Partners of Sex Offenders - Paul Fedoroff
We started this segment with a reading from one of the postings on a blog called Support for Wives of Sex Offenders. It's run by an American woman who says she is married to a registered sex offender. And it solicits postings from women who were -- or are -- with men who have committed sexual crimes.
Last week, Colonel Russell Williams pleaded guilty to 88 charges including two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of forcible confinement. And among the questions left hanging in the air is how the spouse of someone convicted of those kinds of crimes would be able to cope. It's something a lot of people would rather not think about.
But to Paul Fedoroff, it's of crucial importance. He is the Director of the Sexual Behaviour Clinic at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. The clinic looks at criminal and non-criminal sexual behaviour. And one of the support groups it runs is for the spouses of sexual offenders. Paul Fedoroff was in Ottawa.
