Google Streetview & Privacy
Google launched the service for selected Canadian cities last week. And it's a pretty amazing piece of technology. But more than a few people are concerned about its implications. We heard from David Loukidelis, British Columbia's Information and Privacy Commissioner.
Of course, street-level imaging is just the latest new technology to alter our understanding of what privacy means... and how much of it we actually have. So, for their thoughts on how we define privacy today and how that perception may be evolving, we were joined by three people. Ann Cavoukian is Ontario's Privacy Commissioner. She was in Toronto. David Elder is a Communications and Privacy Lawyer. He was in Ottawa. And Heather West is a Policy Analyst at the Center for Democracy and Technology. She was in Washington.
A Death in the Family - Part One
Ask a parent who has been through it and they'll tell you that the death of a young child is more tragedy than anyone should ever have to bear. And so it was with Valin Johnson, a precocious four-year-old who died suddenly in June of 1993. But in Valin's case, her death was just the beginning of her family's tragedy. The Current's John Chipman prepared a documentary about what happened to Valin and her family and he joined Brent in studio.

A Death in the Family - Part Two
Before the break, we were listening to A Death in the Family, a documentary by The Current's John Chipman. It explores the death of four-year-old Valen Johnson in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, 15 years ago. We continued the documentary and the discussion with producer, John Chipman in studio.
