Breached Dike Consequences
We began our coverage on the Manitoba floods with a look back at a dramatic week that made manitoba history...a history that no one wanted to be part of. Producers Kristin Nelson and Suzanne Dufresne met with two rural couples who found themselves on opposite ends of the flood fight....one had to flee their home because of the deliberate breach of the dike at the hoop and holler bend...the other got to stay because of it. They created a documentary to share their stories called The Week that Was.
In that documentary we heard from Karen and Abe Dyck and Sandor and Maryanna Arendse and Sandor Arendse joined us in our CBC Winnipeg studio. His house is on the Elm River near the Hoop and Holler bend.
