Quebec has tabled legislation that would make it the first jurisdiction in Canada to allow gravely ill patients to choose a medically assisted death. If the bill is adopted in the Fall session of the Quebec national assembly, a doctor who receives the repeated consent of a patient could administer medication to cause death.
