LAS VEGAS - It was on display at the Consumer Electronics Show as a "working concept," but a new system from Sony indicates the company is serious about giving the Average Joe the ability to stream HD content throughout a home.

In a nutshell, the setup would use a built-in receiver in multiple TVs (supposing there are two or more in a home, located in separate rooms), and transmit the signal using an "Area Sector Antenna" that can focus the signal in a specific direction. Wi-Fi signals typically transmit in a 360-degree radius, but this system one could cut the broadcast radius in half.

Naturally, the HD content would be uncompressed. The catch is that both TVs would have to be watching the same content. Still, it's an interesting idea.
