Elaine Pagels is one of the world's preeminent scholars on early Christianity.

She won America's National Book Award in religion writing for  The Gnostic Gospels.

She also wrote Beyond Belief: the Secret Gospel of Thomas - which became a New York Times bestseller.

Between teaching, lecturing and researching, she worked over the past nine years on her latest book  Revelations: Visions, Prophecy and Politics in the Book of Revelation.

In her interiview, Prof. Pagels refers to two Dylan Thomas poems that reflect on how hope defiantly endures in the face of calamity.
