Listen

Sometimes people find themselves asking, "Why go on?" In this episode of Tapestry, we flip the question and ask, "Why not go on?" Ray Robertson is a Toronto novelist who went through a serious depression in which he considered suicide. When he got better, Robertson came up with a list of 15 things that make life worth living, and they may surprise you. Duty? Intoxication? Death itself?

And then there's Jarrod Livingstone from Regina. He doesn't ask "Why am I here?" or "What does it all mean?" Livingstone is a severely disabled man who has survived fatal diagnoses several times. He was even officially dead for three minutes. His sister, Carma, wants to know where he gets this iron will to live.

We'll also hear from the late Steve Jobs, founder of Apple; from stroke victim and brain scientist, Jill Bolte Taylor; and freelance contributor, Hassan Ghedi Santur, on his passion for the Gustav Klimt painting, The Kiss.
