Hassan Ghedi Santur was born in Somalia. He came to Canada when he was 14, just before the outbreak of civil war in his country. Now Toronto is his home.

As a Muslim, Hassan has just finished observing the month of Ramadan. He fasted from sunrise until sunset, and tried to stay away from popular culture and other forms of entertainment. In many parts of the world, Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is a national day of celebration. But in secular, non-Muslim Canada, things are a little different. We asked Hassan to keep an audio diary as he went through Ramadan, and you'll hear his reflections on today's program.
