Monday March 4, 2013 Meg Tilly
On Monday's show, Meg Tilly is in the red chair. She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in 'Agnes of God'. She was in 'The Big Chill', alongside a who's-who of early-'80s stars. Now Meg Tilly is starring in the second season of 'Bomb Girls', Global's show about bomb makers during the Second World War. We'll get into what the new season holds (including a cameo from a certain Canadian host named George), and what's next for Meg. Plus, the Panel features the comedy of Debra McGrath.
Tuesday March 5, 2013 Dan Aykroyd
Dan Aykroyd is on the program Tuesday. Dan is truly a great Canadian innovator: he was part of the original cast of 'Saturday Night Live', a group that made censors sweat and helped turn SNL into a pop-culture machine. What followed was a phenomenon, including the Ghostbusters films, both co-written by Dan. There are rumours about a third 'Ghostbusters' too. We'll get Dan's inside take on that. In short, the guy who scored an Oscar nomination for 'Driving Miss Daisy', helped launch the House of Blues, and got into the liquor business has an otherworldy amount of talent. Plus, the Panel features Inessa Frantowski.
Wednesday March 6, 2013 Olivia Chow & Sook-Yin Lee & Roma Downey
On Wednesday, we're joined by three talented women. First up, Olivia Chow and Sook-Yin Lee are in the red chair to talk about the new film 'Jack' about Olivia's husband, Jack Layton. Sook-Yin will be playing the role of Olivia in the movie, and we'll get into what it's like to lose someone you love, and how to embody that grief as an actor. Also in the red chair is Roma Downey, who has spent much of her career exploring the shared space between spirituality and acting. It started on 'Touched by an Angel', a wildly successful TV show that ran for nine seasons in the US. For the role, Roma drew on her own faith. Now, she's part of a new mini-series, 'The Bible', which aims to adapt one of the most influential books of all time. Not only does Roma play Mother Mary, she's also co-producing the series with her husband, Mark Burnett. And our Panel guest stars Adam Korson.
Thursday March 7, 2013 Patti Smith
Thursday's show features a rock icon. Patti Smith is in the red chair. More than any rock star, Patti embodies that dynamic - maybe you've felt it yourself... the need to break away and rediscover yourself. Growing up in South Jersey, Patti toiled in a factory job, read poetry, and plotted her escape. In New York, she became a poet herself... and when that poetry was put to music - minds were blown. Once she'd given rock & roll the shot of adrenaline it needed, Patti retired to the suburbs to raise a family with her husband, the late Fred 'Sonic' Smith from the mighty MC5. Now back in New York - and touring the world with her most recent album 'Banga' - Patti is far from retiring: her many projects include a mystery novel, a film, a screenplay, plus another book - the follow-up to 'Just Kids'. Plus there's 'Patti Smith: Camera Solo' - an exhibit of her own photography and installation work, a rare glimpse into Patti's personal world - on display in Canada for the first time at the Art Gallery of Ontario, February 9-May 19, 2013. The Panel features the hilarious Nikki Payne.
