We're back! The celebration of music has returned.
Sheryl WuDunn, business executive, lecturer, and best-selling author, and Nicholas D. Kristof, New York Times columnist, share their take on the realities of life for women around the world, and some of the possibilities they see, on International Women's Day.
They talk to George about the critical role of education and innovation, and the latest initiative in their global movement to address what they've called "our era's most pervasive human rights violation: the oppression of women and girls in the developing world".
WuDunn and Kristof co-wrote 'Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide'. They also collaborated with Zynga on 'Half the Sky' the game. Check out the 'Half the Sky' game on Facebook.
Sheryl and Nick were in Toronto to speak at the first annual Bluma Lecture. Named in honour of Toronto philanthropist Bluma Appel, The Bluma Lecture is co-presented by the Toronto Public Library Foundation and Toronto Public Library.
