Sunday is the night of the vampires, devils, wolves, monsters —and The Strombo Show's annual Hallowe'en Special.
For jetsetting crooner Michael Bublé, the idea of getting married was once unthinkable.
When Bublé and George met up for a special on-location interview in Ucluelet, B.C.'s Pacific Rim National Park, the singer explained how everything changed after he met actress Luisana Lopilato, his eventual wife and the mother of his son.
"The further I got into this business and the further I got into fame and all the wonderful trappings that come with it, the less that I wanted to be a father," Bublé told George. "Life was awesome."
Bublé then explained the differences between him wanting to marry Lopilato and the actual institution of marriage.
"It's funny... I've said it before and I get in trouble for it, I fell in love with my wife," Bublé said. "She's a great person. And it's weird, I wanted to get married to her 'cause I wanted to be with her for my life. She's my best friend. But did I want to get married? It's a scary commitment.
"I gotta be honest, by the time I hit my 30s marriage was out. I just looked at my friends who got married and went, 'Why?' Especially friends who got married and didn't have kids. Then I was really stumped. I was, like, 'So what's your reason for being married if you're not going to have kids? Why are you doing it?'
"And I just think I had to go through a bunch of stuff and get to a point in my life where I was ready."
The musician has come around, though, after working through some self-doubt.
"It's just one of those things, you know," said Bublé. "I couldn't have known it was going to be as good as it is. And even having a kid, I thought I was way too selfish, impatient and I thought I was scared every day, even when she was pregnant, I was like, 'Am I good enough? Am I going to be a good dad? Am I going to be an absentee father?'
"It's a tough conversation. It's something we struggle with daily."
Michael Bublé's interview with George airs Monday, March 17, 2014 on CBC. Bublé's current tour dates can be found here.
