Tarek Loubani Explains Why He Bled On His Jailer’s Shoes
submit to reddit

Filmmaker John Greyson and Dr. Tarek Loubani were jailed for 50 days in Egypt without charge recently.

When George mentioned to the pair they were displaying remarkable humour while doing press about their ordeal they explained themselves:

JG: There was this one great moment where we're being interrogated. We'd been separated. Tarek comes back and he's got a bloody nose 'cause he's been whacked and I watched him as he leans slowly forward with his dripping nose to ensure that his blood is dripping onto the interrogating officer's shoe. And he boasted about it later at great length.

TL: The bastard broke my nose. The context of that is that at that moment they have complete domination of your body. And we knew that. And they knew that. But what I wanted to be indomitable was my spirit. And so the context of the hit is that the guy says to me, "I'm going to wipe that smile off your face by the end of the night." And I said, "I doubt it." And then he smoked me in the face breaking my nose. And I was still smiling.
