Sundays 8pm to 11pm on Radio 2
Iconic Canadian producer and musician Daniel Lanois stops by the House of Strombo for an acoustic performance and intimate interview.
Robbie Robertson, the legendary musician and former member of The Band, used last night's Canadian Thanksgiving broadcast of the George show to explain his unique relationship to the holiday.
The Band's epic concert film The Last Waltz was filmed on a Thanksgiving day, but as a First Nations member there's also some uncomfortable resonance with the holiday.
"There's a real conflict of celebration of that," says Robertson, who went on to explain how he deals with Thanksgiving in Canada and the United States.
"It's a bit of a sore spot, Thanksgiving, in Indian country. On Canadian Thanksgiving I'm going to be celebrating with some Canadian friends. And the American Thanksgiving I'm not going to think about the mistreatment of people, I'm just going to go ahead and give some thanks."
