For a special Parks Canada-themed edition of Something You Might Not Know About Canada, we asked Mad Men star Jessica Paré to explain what makes Long Beach in British Columbia's Pacific Rim National Park so special.
Long Beach is known, coincidentally, for its long beaches.
It's also known for something else.
"Long Beach is also known for its surfing," said Paré. "And has been that way for a long time. First Nations people surfed the waves in canoes for hundreds of years. Modern surfing as we know it started in the mid-1960s and even Pierre Trudeau rode some gnarly waves when he visited the park in 1970."
