Glee actor Cory Monteith died on July 13 from an accidental overdose of heroin and alcohol. With Glee set to air a Cory Monteith tribute episode on Thursday, October 10 we took a look back to his candid interview on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight which originally aired October 18, 2011.
In this clip Monteith talked about how people made assumptions about him, not realizing some of the darker aspects of his life.
"People have always made a lot of assumptions," he said. "You know, you look and you see this young all-American quarterback-looking dude on the show, and you just immediately make assumptions, and I think people really starting identifying me with those assumptions."
Monteith also wanted to use his voice to reach others.
"If I can, through my experience, shed light on the way out of a difficult situation that I know many kids are experiencing, just like I did when I was a teenager, that's huge," he said.
