George spoke to Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television chair Martin Katz about the Canadian Screen Awards and the state of filmmaking in Canada.
George asked Katz what we can do to get people to watch Canadian films when Hollywood films have so much bigger budgets.
"This is the classic challenge in Canada, and by the way it's a challenge that filmmakers face, which is Lego's probably got a marketing budget of $150 million dollars... which is consistent with the production budgets of every movie made in Canada in two years. So it's nuts to try and compete against that marketing budget.
"It's one of the reasons why we created the Canadian Screen Awards to try and bring some hype over the course of Canadian Screen Week."
